Spiritualism, translation, science-fiction. The sonic translation of a Science Fiction novel by unknown Cuban author Miguel Collazo. We work with spiritualist ceremonies performed in the East part of Cuba, in the mountains of Sierra Maestra. Through the processing of our recordings of such ceremonies -their voices and songs- we obtain a haunting sonic texture of a lost universe. 4 screens projections, on alternate loops, present extant monologues of the practitioners of this Cuban religion, describing what seems to be the topography of an unknown world. We performed the music of Collazo’s Journey with a very elemental set of a Nagra recorder and a MIDI controller.
